1965 Opel Admiral
![]() Schloss Moyland / Moyland Castle - Bedburg-Hau, Niederrhein, Germany
Always the least attractive of all my Opel calender plates in my opinion. I never understood why this gloomy castle, obviously in need of a restauration, with windows covered, was used as a background for the nice white Opel flagship. Meanwhile the castle has been restored, and where the car is parked at this photo, is now a canal around the building again. The Moyland Castle in Bedburg-Hay, between Kleve (Cleves) and Kalkar, belongs to a well known family in Germany. However, nobody lives here, but since the restauration which as completed in July 2007, the castle houses, among others, a museum of modern art. See where this picture was taken. I came here to get away from castles!
My new group (Officially) England's Best Buildings is doing well but it's full of "gloomy castles". Most people try and avoid the cars and families when they photo them though!
