Golden Gate Bridge from Hawk Hill. Marin Headlands, Marin County
After a few hours of resizing and adding descriptions to images for the Getty Collection, I came across this image. Yes, It is very much like a image I uploaded back in May, but I really like the full frame of this one. This image was made just a few minutes after the other image that I have up so there are some small shadow details that are different as well.

Out Of Time
Rodeo Beach (north) Marin County coast.
I finally was able to make it out to the coast to catch a sunset while the clouds were in town....
A few days back I was out taking care of a few things when I noticed the sky looked like it would hold up well for sunset. So after a quick and early dinner, I headed out to the nearest beach. Rodeo has been a "go to" place for me over the past year mainly because of the different terrain of rocks, sand, cliffs, sea stacks, and trails that run along the southern Marin coast. Most off the images made at Rodeo come from the stacks area, but earlier this year I explored the north end cliffs and found this little spot. Its a tricky spot to photograph, as its 75-100 ft above the water so water action is out of the question. So here I decided to work with the 10 stop solid ND to smooth the water and capture the movement of the fast moving clouds.
Most of the "light show" took place in the middle of my second exposure ( 20 minutes and still a bit underexposed) but I feel that this image captured the mood of this evenings sunset best. I also liked how the image seems to be split in 4 sections. The 50/50 composition for the detail in the sky and the dark half on the left from the lack of light.

Transamerica / Golden Gate Bridge from the Marin Headlands.
One of my first images that I made from the Marin Headlands on my way (or out of my way) to work on a early September morning.
This time I went with a super long (9 1/2 minutes) exposure to try and smooth out the slow moving fog, but here in this image it doesn't really look like the fog moved one bit.
After going through the images from this set for the past week, I decided I liked this second best next to my last upload. The colors in the sky and mystical fog along the foreground trees are what I like most.
Thanks for stopping by and having a look!

Forever... It Will Stay.
Golden Gate Bridge - Battery Spencer, Marin Headlands
On Wednesday night I noticed the low fog sitting over the Golden Gate. I wanted to head up that way and get a few night long exposures, but I was tired from a full day of driving around the bay area. I decided that if the fog was still sitting low in the morning, I would make my way out and get a few images of one of my favorite views.
Normally the best place to get the bridge and the fog is from Hawk Hill, but after a few minutes over by the spot that gives you the view of the Transamerica through the north tower I noticed that Battery Spencer was in the clear. Maybe I am wrong, but it seems that low fog and a clear opening at Battery Spencer is a bit rare. Again, maybe I am wrong, but I've never seen it clear. So after a few images from the tower spot, I made my way down to the hill for some images at Spencer.
Yes, I could have switched lenses for a wide angle shot of the whole bridge, but I wanted to pull the bridge in and give it more of a "foreground" feel.

Carmet Beach - Sonoma Coast State Park.
Its always tough to figure out what images to process when everyone from a outing has something unique about it. My last image from this rocky beach was dark, soft, and dream like. Here, I wanted to show a bit more of the light that came in from the side that set those middle ground rocks on fire. This was also my first "test" image of the evening so I decided to go with it.
Still a bit dark in parts of the sky and foreground, but I really like the dramatic color change in the sky. I think this image captured the evening best. Movement, color, sky.... I can't complain.
