4 images photomerged. I reckon this must be a Roger Walker design, it's similar in features to the townhouse my wife and I rented for a time back in the 90's. I'd guess a spiral staircase exists within the concrete tube/tower. Fun to live in, although featuring rather average (poor) insulation, usually, and maintenance issues...

This is the nearest example I've seen of his work that echoes the former Wellington Club, on the terrace (built late 60's/early 70's) and torn down around 1986 (IIRC) - I have a bunch of photos on 35mm that I took before the demolition started, must dig them out and scan them.

gone to earth by Neuköln

gone to earth

well, well on it's way there, anyway. a forlorn rover 2000 enjoys retirement on the driveway of a 70's house in the suburbs in wellington. by the looks of things, this was a parts car; I wondered what was in the garage, perhaps a better example.

it'll take a few more years yet, I suppose.

shouldn't be too hard for you to recognise the musical reference...

mount st helens provided plentiful cedar by Neuköln

mount st helens provided plentiful cedar

a fine example of 80's architecture, clad in the cedar of the time... I seem to recall cedar being about the cheapest cladding after the mount st helens erruption wiped out many plantations, flooding the market.

looks like some TLC is called for, that cedar looks to getting a ravaging from the southern climes, with the moss/lichen appearing to the casual glance like red lead. no eaves, no soffits. somewhat sensibly, no south-facing decks in an area of town where being under cloud borders on par for the course. [for those of you in the northern hemisphere, down here the sun comes from the north, the cold winds come from the south].

new lens, tooling around with panos while out toy-shopping with the scone-grabbers. they're making some great progress on the former high court building.
