Profusion of nectar
This is the wonderful sight that greeted me when I opened up some hives yesterday - masses of nectar coming in as many new flowers become available - around here cherry, pear, apricot, peach and above all dandelions. I love the fish-eye lens effect on the meniscus - you can see the converging tree canopy above

OK Smaragd - done!

Oh and Per (Color Line) - it was my favourite combination 300mm lens + extension tube. In this case I think it was 21mm. Again the big advantage compaired to shorter lenses is the greater working distance - very useful when wearing a bee veil and quite a few rather angry guard bees around!

Thank you Max. You are right, and I will remember that...

If this were an office, I would be the odd duck in the red cubicle at the bottom left.
The bees would be my supervisors. I guess I can relate to my picture.

Oh Dear sad cuibel - such negative self-esteem!

But see, is that red cell the nectar that has already been turned into honey; ahead of the crowd?
Ready to move on to better things?
Apis629 (95 months ago | reply)
The red cell looks like pollen!

Well a bug shot that is something new; this is to be applauded.
There is much to admire about this shot. However it does seem that the bees are playing second fiddle to the comb which is deep and saturated, where the bees are slightly washed out. I think the bees need to be stronger, read better against the comb, for this to really work.
Sorry but...

I think we are missing some dm. I am adding myself as dm3.
Slick on Greens (95 months ago | reply)
better positioned?! Are these bees a paid troup of models?
But the red cell could have been better placed in the frame.
And Sebastian is kind of on the money with bee definition, though I am not sure what the answer is: dye the comb, get the bees to dress up?
buzz off

I appreciate the idea, but this background does not work for me.

Interesting macro and better than a bee on a flower I guess but it's too dark and lacks interesting color. See if you can lighten it, bump up the contrast and bring out some color.

I agree with the comments above it needs more "pop" in the colors. I am on the edge with this one but...
