08.01.2007 Los Trancos / Monte Bello Open Space Preserves |
Beautiful, hot day. So much to see, so
much color.
I went on a four hour hike again to the
foothills behind Palo Alto. This time I
checked out two open space preserves
slightly closer to Stanford than Russian
Ridge -- Los Trancos and Monte Bello.
They are right across the road from each
other, so it was easy to visit them both
at once.
While they offer less in the way of
stunning vistas, the ecological
diversity of these two open spaces is
amazing. I walked through cool forest,
scorching hills, past steams, a sink
meadow, and mountains, all in one
outing..
I hope these pictures give you a feel
for being there, and, that they inspire
you to visit!
