Picture A Day June 23, 2010 - Rimrock Trail at Doeskin Ranch
The beginning of the Rimrock Trail at Doeskin Ranch in the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge. The trail, following an old dirt road, crosses the Doeskin Creek then climbs up around one of the 'balconies' overlooking the former ranch. Located halfway between Austin and Marble Falls, the refuge was established to protect the black-capped vireo and golden-cheeked warbler, and is one of the handful of publicly-held federal places in the entire state.
