The bucket dredger "WELS" was built at Lübeck in 1936 and worked on the rivers Trave and Wakenitz. In 1991 it was taken over as a museum ship after the necessary renovation.

Located at the north-western bank of the Lübeck island the museum port association maintains a number of transport sailing ships which were typical for the Baltic Sea and some work ships. In front the sailer "JOHANNE" from 1905.

the Buddenbrookhaus

Built 1758 by a rich merchant, the house was owned by the Mann-family from 1842-1891. It became a part of the world literatur as the showplace of Thomas Mann's novel "Buddenbrooks", which portrays the downfall of a wealthy mercantile family of Lübeck over four generations. Since 1993 it's a museum.
