Pape Lake

Finding a satisfactory location alongside Pape Lake, I set the Gitzo up as sturdy as possible. I then captured an exposure just as the sun was setting, overexposing for optimal detail in the ice. Waiting until the "Blue Hour", I took a 60 second exposure to capture the motion in the clouds and the water.

The final part of my plan took the maximum amount of patience.

I waited around at least an hour, so that the ambient light from the sun was completely gone. I then triggered the cable release for an exposure that took around a half hour, including the darkframe noise reduction.

Using layer masking I blended the desired details and portions of the images, creating one image that encompassed a two hour time period and the best moments of the evening.
Yes, it is a lot of work. But...I have never been afriad of it when it involves photography.
