Slimbridge is a 3km square reserve located on the banks of the River Severn between Bristol and Gloucester. Managed by the Wildlife Wetland Trust, Slimbridge was the first WWT centre to be opened back in November 1946. The reserve attracts a large range of ducks, swans and geese, with numbers at their highest during winter months.

This was my first visit to Slimbridge and what a day to go! Bright but cold, glorious warm light all day, lots of activity to have a go at photographing. As well as the vast collection they have at Slimbridge, they also have a number of pools/wetlands that attract visiting birds. In particular we were able to get very close to Bewick swans from Russia as well as Pintails. of a mirrored wall at sunset reflecting light back onto the bird.
