PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (Aug. 23, 2004)
Australia's Collins-class submarine, HMAS Rankin (SSK 78), enters Pearl Harbor for a port visit after completing exercises in the Pacific region. Rankin is currently testing the effects of women on submarines after integrated accommodation arrangements were made. On Dec. 12, 1992, the Minister for Defense Science and Personnel announced that women would be eligible for service in the Collins-class submarines after a Submarine Integration Study (SIS).

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Descriptions, Depictions, & Historical sites / artifacts, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

The integration of women into the crew was a historic event. Nice action shot.
