Les MANALAS de la St Nicolas

Brioches en forme de petits bonshommes offerts traditionnellement aux enfants le jour de la St Nicolas, le 6 décembre. La fête de la St Nicolas étant très vivace dans l'Est de la France, voire plus importante que Noël en Lorraine / Buns for children for the St Nicolas's day, the December 6th. A very famous name-day in East France, more important than Christmas sometimes in Lorraine.

20 cl de lait / 7 oz milk
2 œufs / 2 eggs
100 g de beurre / 0,25 pound butter
50 g de sucre / 0,10 pound caster sugar
500 g de farine / 1 pound flour
10 g de levure de boulanger lyophilisée / 0,025 pound dry yeast
1 cuillère à café de sel / 1 teaspoon salt

Battre les œufs avec le sucre / Beat eggs with sugar
Mélanger la farine, le sel et la levure / mix flour, salt and yeast
Y ajouter les œufs battus , mélanger et pétrir 15' / Add the eggs, mix and knead 15'
Ajouter le beurre mou, pétrir 5' / Add the melted butter, knead 5 '
Laisse reposer 1H30 / Let raise 1H30
Rompre la pâte. Former des boudins. Découper / Break the dough, do it into a sausage shape . Cut it
Former des bonhommes / Form little men
Laisser gonfler 1 h / Let raise 1h
Cuire 20' à 180°C / Bake 20' at 355°F
