365.288 (one of my all-time favorites - Voodoo poncho)![]() I made this poncho back in 2003 or so - deep in the heart of poncho craze in Los Angeles. I was the manager of Knit Cafe at the time and seriously - knitters were making ponchos like crazy! Literally, in every beginner class I taught, at least one person was learning to knit because they wanted to make a poncho.
I wanted a poncho, but I also wanted to do something a little different, so a round poncho out of a very luxurious wool/silk blend (Twisted Sisters Voodoo with a little sari silk from Artfibers - the softest I've ever felt) was my solution. As ponchos go, it's kind of slinky. I made up the pattern, but didn't write it down - basically I just improvised as I knit. I wore this to my first Radiohead concert (also my first concert at the Hollywood Bowl) at Jacob's request, because he said it looked so nice on me. He compliments me and this poncho every time I wear it (not often, really). I love it still. Commentsmaryjessicahammes
