Oak Replacements

Oak Replacements by P/\UL.
The oaks surrounding Bank of America downtown are gone and replaced with palms now. Oh well. I really don't care for the glaring red sign either.

It seems that recently all the goner oaks in town have gone from looking mearly leafless to looking out and out dead. I don't know. It's a subtle thing I've noticed in the last couple of months.

Well, THEY actually did it. I heard many people say they should give those oaks a year.....they may just be dormant from shock.....what a shame. I don't care for palms....& I agree about that horrid red sign.

@mathteacher - these around the bank were younger trees and I suspect they were truly gonzo. Sad. Have you been down Broadway lately? I don't want to wallow in sorrow, but damn it: that is just messed up. I have a lot to be thankful for too.

PAUL & mathteacher The palms they replaced them with are EXTREMELY slow growing and stubby palms -- palmettos actually.

I hate them...they never attain any height and to me they look like seamstress needles stuck in the ground at a 90 degree angle.

If they were going to use palms, they should have at least used Mexican Fan Palms or date palms (like the kind planted around the causeway and down 61st street!) -- something with height and character....not heads of cabbage stuck on a short stick!
