Living Room I

Hippie parents!
The collected works of Louisa May Alcott.
Those are all cookbooks. Sickness? I think so.
Since this is Louisa May Alcott's shelf space, it has become my fav part of the bookshelf.
Living Room I by Marusula.
The wall of books. This about two-thirds mine, one-third Scott's.

I can't help but add this photo to my favorites! Looks like my shelves at my own home... except for I have a smaller apartment and have split the collection into 3 shelves, one in each room.

I realize that it is sort of impressive. I worry that someday the whole thing is just going to fall down.

It is several New York Times Cookbooks, Sarah! You win a prize. I have two copies of the original book, two of my great-aunts had them. There's also the NYT Menu Cookbook and the Heritage Cookbook, which is, hands down, the best one of them all. It has amazing recipes from all across the country, collected at a time when regional cooking was really strong and mostly unadulterated by the homogenizing effects of television.

For some reason it always surprises me that whenever I'm over at your place I don't end up sitting in front of the bookshelf reading cookbooks. After all, that's usually what i do...even in coffee shops! (read: Mugshots, they have a couple of interesting cookbooks that you can read while drinking your coffee).

Maybe it's the interesting magazines that you usually have in your coffee table?
