Pectoral Sandpiper and Killdeer
Finally getting around to my pictures from Texas. Went to three places while I was down there, including this site - the Hornsby Bend Bird Observatory (a waste treatment plant). This pair of a pectoral sandpiper (rear) and a killdeer was a nice one because it's my lifelist shot of a pectoral.
Unfortunately, the Nikon 70-300 doesn't take great pictures at a distance, but I got a few good shots and it was a lot easier to carry on the plane than the 300mm f/2.8.
