Um ... a little help here, please?!?!

Um ... a little help here, please?!?! by martytdx.
Russet-tipped Clubtail
Stylurus plagiatus

As I was leaving Palmyra Cove the other day, I came across this sad dragonfly trapped in what appeared to be an orb weaver web (that or a bird-eating spider). I know that we should let nature takes its course, but I figured:

1) It had already stopped moving so it had probably been there a while, and
2) The spider hadn't come to get it yet.

Putting 1 and 2 together, I figured I would be a good Samaritan and free it before it became lunch. It took a little while - the wings were covered pretty well with webs, but I held it by the abdomen while it perched on my finger and I pulled the webs off. After two failed attempts, it managed to lift off high into the trees.

+15 karma (I hope)

Bless your heart for saving this poor dragonfly from the spider. I'm amazed you were able to free it from the sticky web. Boy...I bet this dragon has happy you came along. I think you did a wonderful thing.
GREAT shot of it upside down.

I would have done the same w/o considering 1 & 2. I do play favorites and I help 'em for sure. (butterflies, dragonflies, moths etc)
It's a good thing god doesn't? ; )

Hmm ... I'm just thinking about it. Is it bad that I took the picture FIRST and then saved it?

I bet you get +30 for that, but I think this is just one of your tricks to get a good photo of this guy and a real good trick it is, saves on the glue bill, lol. Very nice photo. He looks like he is a partial amputee with that right rear wing, or maybe that is where the spider started his meal.

Nice story, but you'd better hope whoever is responsible for dispensing that +15 karma isn't an arachnid.

That's a very nice (and unusual) shot, Marty. I definitely would have done the same thing. ;-)
