Orange You Sad Summer's Almost Gone?

Orange You Sad Summer's Almost Gone? by martytdx.
Variegated Fritillary
Euptoieta claudia

I missed seeing beautiful butterflies all summer -- it was fun to finally see some now that summer is coming to an official end. This fritillary was among the most compliant of the specimens I saw.

Gorgeous shot of the butterfly. Marty, I have noticed that there were fewer butterflies this year. Last year I saw 80+ butterflies around my yard and park nearby. This year I saw only around 40-45 only.

Heck no, summer's been here long enough! 46 days, 11hours, and 38 minutes until the lifts open! Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow...

Sweet shot.

LOL, Shep - I like skiing, too, but it's the cold that I hate. I'll take 70 degrees over skiing weather any day. Of course, in Colorado, 70 degrees can be skiing weather, right? (I remember skiing on A-Basin on July 4th then heading back to Boulder for a barbecue).

Our last day I think was late April or early May. We wanted to hit A-basin later but just never got to it. This year we all have passes so can hit the hills until we are shredding grass instead of snow! :) You've got that east coast cold/humid thing going on that makes 50 feel chilly sometimes.

Lovely shot. The very soft colors of the fritillary work so well with the muted background.
