Forster's Tern

I always get a kick out of how these terns feed - scan the water below them and then dive-bomb into the water. I'm surprised when they come up with a fish sometimes, because I can't believe the fish is still there after the 2-3 seconds they take to dive down.

Re: On account of my moving this year I have not been to any parks or willd life reservoirs and have taken some pictures which are mostly from the new property. The move was planned at the end of last year and could not be avoided.

These are hard birds to catch in flight because they seldom fly in a straight line. I'm happy when I get one out of five shots in focus. At Forsythe NWR there are usually plenty of them to practice on. Nice job on this one.

Thanks, everyone -- it was nice to get out and shoot again, even if I wasn't entirely happy with the end results. I might have to go out again this week for some early morning shooting of migration to compensate.

L. Hennessy - they certainly did give us plenty of opportunities -- my wife got even better shots than I did.
