WHile I am not out as much as I used to...I also noticed that the number of the butterflies had decreased very significantly. There are days, I do not see any. I remember, I've seen Monarchs flying over the highways sometimes in a group of more than 10 even from the car while driving. This year, I think, I saw 3 Monarchs.
Did you read anything about this? If so, please link me up :))

I'm returning here because I just saw your comment on Syl's shot of the Eastern amberwing. This is what I wrote in my comment: "An obelisk is a tall stone pillar; hence the term. Odonates do this to cool themselves off on hot days, since doing it reveals less of their bodies to the sun's rays."

This weekend is good for me, just let me know, and we'll pick the better of the 2 days. Got a nice shot of an Eastern Wood Pee-wee today but it won't be posted for a while. I'm about 200 pics behind in posting, took 200 pics on the last butterfly count, photo oppertunities everywhere between the Butterflies, Birds, Dragonflies, Moths, and other cool insects, i didn't know what to shoot 1st.
