Look at me!

Look at me! by martytdx.
Phaon Crescent
Phyciodes phaon

Shari and I had a bit of a debate about the ID of this beautiful little crescentspot, but I'm pretty confident that it is a Phaon Crescent instead of the more common Pearl Crescent. Either way it was very amicable and let us get a ton of shots - but no ventral ones that would help end the debate.

That's a really beautiful butterfly photo! How you and Shari ID and figure out the sex of so many butterflies and dragonflies etc. is beyond me!

Pearl Crescents are surprisingly variable, but not quite that variable. I'm not familiar with the Phaon, though. Great photograph.
