Suspension SunsetHaving been snowbound at home the past couple of days, I decided to pop out this evening for an hour to get some shots. The roads were just crazy, my car was all over the place skidding in the snow and ice and I came very close to hitting some parked cars. I was later tailgated by a female Royal Mail driver who upon stopping at the lights suggested I pull my car over so we could have a fight ... (facepalm)! Then when I arrived my camera sporadically showed '--' as the fstop, and I had to switch on/off a couple of times. I was in full manual mode and even setting to auto it did not resolve. Since getting back home I have been told it is likely to be a lens/contact issue; a reseat of the lens should sort the problem out. Will have to keep an eye on it. Anyway, that was my day. Be safe on the roads everyone!
Uploaded on Jan 7, 2010 SilhoetteAnother composition from the earlier location. An experimentation of settings; f22 at 1/60 handheld ISO 200 ... not bad at all :-)
Uploaded on Jan 5, 2010 Hidden ValleyThis was taken 10 miles shy of Elan Valley in Powys, Wales. The Tom Tom sent us round in circles, but amidst the chaos we spotted this amazing view. Took about 50 shots of this, all with differing composition, but this one stood out from the rest. Behind me was a series of waterfalls; sadly the light was bad so did not bother trying to capture them. Really pleased with this though, thank you D90!
Uploaded on Jan 3, 2010 Happy New Year
After much deliberation I have finally bought a new camera; it’s time to say goodnight to the much loved D40 and welcome the new improved D90. First thoughts; it feels nice and everything is so much easier to get to. The overabundance of extra functionality over the D40 has been a joy to explore. I think the biggest thing though is the massive leap from a 6mp sensor to the 12mp of the D90.
Uploaded on Jan 3, 2010 Morning BurstAnother from the many taken this morning at Ogmore. The Cokin NG grads are invaluable on a sunrise like this; I took a couple without them have and they all have blown out skies and under exposed foregrounds. I would normally have had to blend several exposures to get something like this.
