Red and green peppers, Allentown Farmer's Market

Just some red and green peppers for sale, at the fabulous Allentown, Pennsylvania Farmer's Market.

Botanically, these are a fruit. That is, they are ripened ovaries.

Love the contrast! I didn't know they're fruits! I've always thought that if it ripens off the vine then it's a fruit and if it rots off the vine then it's a vegetable. LOL.

Waves, I said that these are fruit botanically -- that is, mature peppers are ripened ovaries, hence, to a botanist, fruit. Not in the grocery store, where you are about right on the difference.
