Procrastination is my middle name!*

I wanted to do a holiday themed shot BFORE Christmas, but Christmas came and went before I got around do it. My next idea was a sunset shot to go along with the ending of this year's project, but one thing or another interfered with that. Then I decided on a Christmas shot anyway!

*Roger's middle name should be Patience. In addition to wearing this wreath, he let me drape him with beaded garland and wrap him in a tree skirt.

I wish these beautiful red leaves were in my yard!

I think it goes without saying that I'm thankful for both Justine & Roger. I'm also thankful for Roger's loving, patient nature and the opportunity he's given Justine to experience all the joy that goes along with the human-canine bond. I believe that children who have loving, kind & positive relationships with animals grow up to have a certain sensitivity & sense of responsibility toward all living things. Justine truly loves & appreciates Roger...she feeds him, puts hair clips in his top knot and puts scarves on him. She has made up songs to sing to him & has sought him out for comfort she was sad. When she was not quite 2 I took her with me for the first time to drop Roger off at the groomer's. As the groomer took Roger's leash & led him to the back Justine stretched out her arms toward him & started crying, "Doggie, doggie!" and I had to explain to her that he would be coming back. Just last week, as soon as we got home from dropping him off at the groomer's, she said, "I miss Roger."

Roger shares the recliner with me, something we both enjoy. He drapes over my lap and legs just like a plush, snuggly blanket!

I took this photo with my cell phone earlier this month just for fun, not intending for it to be my project photo. It's a good thing I had it to fall back on, though, because this past week has been unusually & unexpectedly hectic for me with family and work obligations. I did a bit of editing (mainly sepia and Orton-ish) to get a dreamy look and mask the noise.

Funny story about Roger & furniture...when I got him 4 years ago I was told that one of the reasons he had been surrendered was because he got on the furniture and got it all dirty. I had Roger for a full month before he got on any furniture. It was Thanksgiving & when our first guest sat down on the couch Roger jumped right up next to him, as if saying, "Hey Buddy, I'm Roger, glad you could join us. What do you want to talk about?" We were all taken completely by surprise! Even Roger seemed surprised and he jumped right down! He has never tried to get on any furniture since, that is, unless he has an invitation.
