Somali women and children huddle against dust-choked and unrelenting winds as they queue outside a food distribution center in the border town of Mandera, in northeastern Kenya near Somalia and Ethiopia. Sandstorms are a common occurence here. Successive years of crippling drought brought about by climate change has turned the landscape into a huge dust bowl and has burdened food and water supplies for the pastoralist Somalis of Mandera...Food security in hard-hit towns like Mandera will always be under threat unless urgent and decisive steps are taken to address climate change.
