Bakfiets at the dumpMy older Arkel panniers have hooks that don't fit properly on the thick tubing of the bakfiets. Until I get those hooks upgraded, the saddle bag strapped easily to the rack with the provided strap. ![]() Since the load that didn't go, I had been saving bags of yard waste to haul out to the dump, once the bakfiets arrived.

I suspect the seven deflated bags I took today weighed over 100 lbs, and fit easily into the bucket, wrapped with the tarp to keep yardjuice off the bike. I definitely went slower with the extra weight, but it was faster than making two trips by bike, and more fun than the car! Now I've started collecting yard waste in a corner of my yard, so I'm not sure many dump runs I'll be making in the future. Hauling a load of stuff to the Salvation Army is next!
