Caterpillar

this little details makes the difference between a good photo and a normal photo

Common Yellow Swallowtail (Papilio machaon) larva
(also known as Old World Swallowtail)

This is the caterpillar of the common Yellow Swallowtail. Click here to see how it will look like when it grows up! Found on one of its favorite plants, a fennel (Foeniculum vulgare). It is wet from this morning's rain.

Funny thing: the only time this happened again to me was with "Butterfly catapult", which is another Papilio machaon capture, albeit an adult one :-) Maybe this means I should spend more time with the swallowtails than with the other critters! LOL

This older capture has been kicked out of explore though, from the recent changes in the interestingness algorithm (along with many others of mine), because apparently I had added it to a lot of groups that require mandatory comments... Oh, well, you can't have them all :-)
