Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
![]() Smiling in adversity - Ulaanbaatar is the scene of an immense urban migration as thousands of nomads and rural workers head for the Mongolian capital.
This family moved to the city two years ago when the last of their livestock died in a bleak Gobi Desert winter. Tumenbayar and his wife Byambaa live in their ger on the outskirts of a 'ger ghetto' in UB. Their four year old daughter, Odgerel, is unable to walk due to malnourishment. As Gobi Desert nomads they find it hard to adjust to sedentary life in their new 'home town.' Commentsldd74 says: This photo makes me want to travel and gets
