![]() The Good News of Salvation
“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound Isaiah 61:1 The Book of Isaiah has been compared to a miniature Bible within the Bible. Like in the Old Testament, the first thirty-nine chapters of Isaiah foretell of God’s judgment on the immoral people of the world. The last twenty-seven chapters of Isaiah, just like the twenty-seven books of the New Testament present a message of hope and salvation. Isaiah is quoted in the New Testament over 65 times, more than any other Old Testament book. The prophet Isaiah is known as the “evangelical prophet” because he focused many of his prophecies on the grace of God and about the arrival of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Jesus officially claimed that He was the Messiah and had fulfilled Isaiah’s prophecy in Luke 4:17-21 God has blessed His people not only by clearly foretelling His people through Isaiah more than 600 years before Jesus’ arrival, but by then blessing the world by fulfilling His promise and demonstrating His absolute sovereignty as God. In Isaiah 55:11, God says that wherever He sends His word it never returns empty, but always achieves the special purpose for which it was sent. Perhaps God sent this word to you today?
