Marlborough Sounds 25 Febuary 2006

Marlborough Sounds 25 Febuary 2006

Covering some 4,000 km² of sounds, islands, and peninsulas, the Marlborough Sounds lie at the South Island's north-easternmost point, between Tasman Bay in the west and Cloudy Bay in the south-east. The almost fractal coastline has 1/5 of the length of New Zealand's coasts. Possibly the best ferry ride in the world and one that I will be repeating in April, look out for the pictures!

Rangitoto from Cockle Bay 04-01-2010 17-18-18

Rangitoto Island is a volcanic island in the Hauraki Gulf near Auckland, New Zealand. The 5.5 km wide island is an iconic and widely visible landmark of Auckland with its distinctive symmetrical shield volcano cone rising 260 metres (850 ft) high over the Hauraki Gulf. Rangitoto is the most recent and the largest (2311 hectares) of the approximately 50 volcanoes of the Auckland Volcanic Field.
It is separated from the mainland of Auckland's North Shore by the Rangitoto Channel
