The great omission in American life is solitude; not loneliness, for this is an alienation that thrives most in the midst of crowds, but that zone of time and space, free from the outside pressures, which is the incubator of the spirit.

I love the perspective in this image Lucy, and again very nice use of the vignette.. the way the lightest part of the image is where the lines end, is a very nice touch. Also, the main character fits perfectly in this scenario... we can tell a lot by his body language, don't we?
Awesome work my friend!!

Yeah you really can feel the sense of solitude here.

And on a side note, do you live in the future? Because this looks almost like a scene from a sci-fi novel. ;)

I like the extra bit of darkness at the top of the cone that leads us back down the honeycombed ceiling of the DC Metro and into the ending point. The solitude of living can bring great things forward. I like how the people are standing separate but bound by a purpose and a shared journey. Now, if they could just put the rubbish bins back on the platform...

i always loved the dc metro, something in it's cavernous ungilded design that's appropriately egalitarian for the capital. i'm a big fan of this series because the photographs simultaneously challenge, manipulate, and reinforce that idea. well done.
