taking flight

taking flight

You would think with 150,000 birds flying through the air I could get a number of shots like this that worked. Well, you would be wrong - there were two and even they weren't quite what I had in mind. I do believe I have a better idea what to do next time. Perhaps most difficult was waiting, and waiting, and waiting - then needing to do everything perfectly in just one minute. The waiting did give me a lot of time to think about what I needed and wanted to do, remind myself (more than once) to keep checking my exposure since the light was changing - and convince myself I was sure to screw something up! :)

Was fun, if a little intense - I will try it again.

150,000 ...

150,000 ...

... and I feel like I took about that many photos, almost entirely unsuccessfully. Experimenting with a lot of different things this morning - so I consider it a learning experience. I won't claim to have learned anything but wow, what an experience!

DO NOT ENTER

DO NOT ENTER

Conditions were really ideal the other day, wish I'd had better locations to shoot. I would have liked this shot better without the post and bush on the right side - and I did give a few attempts in Photoshop to remove them. I'm not that skilled, yet - and perhaps never that patient! :)

Had some great news yesterday, received my first statement from Getty - two sales! Nothing I can retire on but it will fill my gas tank a couple of times.

water's edge

water's edge

I had never seen the water as low as it was yesterday - exposed some things I'd not seen before.

off season

off season

No snow, not even any rain. But oh boy, fantastic cloud cover - moving, with breaks in them, and dim enough light that I could shoot two minutes exposures, all day long. Earlier today, I was even able to experiment with some four minute exposures.

Snow would have been nice - but this might have been even better.
