the church Maarup

the church Maarup by mari painting.
The ocean is eating more and more of the coast , so the church is going to jump into the ocean in the next 10 years.

Maarup church is build around year 1300, and is one of 10 village churches in Romanesque style that are in this area.
Together with the locals people from Spain and England are buried there, when there ship was wrecked at the west coast of Jutland.

Glad you got a pic of it before it takes the big plunge! Being that old on the coastline, it has certainly stood the ravages of weather (though, I'm sure, it's upkept now) Very interesting building and story. Thanks for sharing.

What a wonderful historic image!
It's sometime since I last was there, so I haven't seen how they tearing down the church stone by stone.
You may be right, - but from what I've read in the newpapers the church dates back to the 13th century.

Jeg har set denne skønne gamle kirke nogle gange og nåede lige at se den igen før nedrivningen begyndte. Da var den også tæt på skrænten!
Spændende sted at besøge!
