Career Change

Career Change by Mareen Fischinger.
Unfortunately, due to some mass ruling in market research, this image of mine did not make it on the cover of a career magazine. It was produced before it was presented (by default) and I really don't want it to go to waste. It is going to Getty Images anyway now.
I bet more people see it here than on the magazine cover.

Clever idea, perfectly executed—I particularly appreciate the stains on the white coat!

Well done, as usual. Did Getty contact you? I read recently that they were going to start looking through flickr for usable images, so perhaps that has already happened to you (and no surprise there). The rest of us will just have to wait by the phone...

I dislike the different height of the two collars. I miss the symmetry. Probably on purpose, still I do not like it this way.

@TheElectrician: Mareen has an account there!?

awesome!

however, I agree, the collar height is annoying. However, more so, is the fact the jacket on the left folds earlier than the one on the right.

Carl, the new Flickr/Getty corporation has just been announced a few days ago, not actually up and running yet, and it is aimed at amateur photographers. People like Mareen who make a living from photography have always had contracts with photo agencies—you can verify it on her website, too. :)

Oh, and I explicitly do like every bit of dissymmetry in this photo. It keeps the eye entertained!

Mareen Fischinger says:

I am a contract photographer with Getty Images anyway.
And I also put things on Flickr.

The dissymmetry is there because she is wearing different types of clothing. Both were symmetrical in their own way before they got split up.

Aktenverwalter says:

Of course the dissymmetry comes with the different cuts of the two pieces of clothing, still your job would've been to adapt them (with tape or sth?). :P

There was a street artist on the Ramblas in Barcelona who did this kind of thing (except more extreme). He was a businessman on one side and a free spirit (hippy) on the other side. He handed out little booklets that explained it all. It was essentially about the disconnect between dreams and real life.

Very cool idea and great execution, my only suggestion is that ladies always put their hair way up in the lab to keep it out of the way and out of the chemicals (I work in a lab so I see it every day).
Good luck with Getty!

Is this the magazine cover for which they ordered this shot?

Quereinsteiger

If so, I don’t really understand why they decided against using it.
