Rapture sign -- Holding up well after 14 years...
(11 June 2006)
I have driven by this sign nearly every day since it went up sometime
during the summer
of 1992. For a sign that 'should' have only been needed a few
months, it has
remarkable staying power!
This photo was taken this afternoon on our way to the Rockin' Ribfest...

Hee hee, I remember when these signs went up, too. There's still one coming off the Taylors Falls bridge from Hudson to Nashua. I'm just waiting for some Rapture person to tell me about it again, so I can say, "What happened to October 28, 1992?" since I now know the date by heart.

Yes!! MIRACLE!!!
Maybe the Lord wants people to be reminded of how moronic the Rapture people are.

Or... Perhaps the rapture did happen in 1992 and we all were left behind.

I meant to comment on this photo. I've seen this sign for years. I recall when folks had just posted these leaflets. Perhaps the folks that posted these have been lifted off terra firma :)

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called 1-2-3 Signs, and we'd love to have your photo added to the group. 1-2-3 Signs is a comments group, so you need to comment on other photos in the pool if you add this -- and it's much appreciated by your fellow photographers.

Hey, that's on the light-post right outside where I work! And expect a lot of traffic, Phil Plait just used this photo in a blog entry.
(Oh, have you seen the one in Concord on Ft Eddy Road, by the Borders/Shaws/Hannafords intersection?)

I used to live in Manchester (had to move in 2008), and there was one on a lamppost in the Macy's parking lot in Bedford that I would always see.
Even though I was the sort of Evangelical who would always insist that pinning a date was grossly inappropriate, this got under my skin in a weird way and messed me up to the point where I couldn't do long-term things anymore because long-term plans might be interrupted by the End of the World. I couldn't study in college; I couldn't form deep romantic relationships... it was pretty bad.
I wish I knew how to reach some of the believers in the May 21, 2011 rapture. NPR interviewed some of them, and they had rationed their money, food, and medication to all run out on the appointed day. How do you recover from that?

In anticipation of tomorrow, I took this photo yesterday of the same sign.
