Treehouse Summer's End 2
Found this treehouse while hiking on the southern side of the Saluda River downstream from the Lake Murray Dam. Not certain if it has internet access. Don't know the owner, however someone went to a lot of work. You can check it out with the map location in the Additional Information area to the right below.

I think I'd like living like this, but I couldn't look out the windows :) fear of heights. Fantastic shot Marc!

Thanks Harriet. I'm not as brave as younger. You have to really watch your footing down around the river or you'll roll 30 feet down the bank to the river or step in a hole.

A post-modern architectural touch, too.

Thanks for the comments Natascha2006 and J Gilbert.
J Gilbert, shooting this wide angle with the hard angle from shooting below makes the one section look off kilter I believe. The rocks in the foreground and left side are approximately 3 foot X 3 foot (1 meter X 1 meter).

Hey I live near here. How long of a walk is it to get here from the Lexington boat ramp and how far up to the dam does the trail go.

No. No internet access. It doesn't even have water or power, anymore. Apparently they have been disconnected. The inside is unfinished, but if you take a gallon of water up with you, you can still flush the toilet. It has 2 levels with walls, windows, and a mattress. If you want to go up there, I'd suggest bringing a rope (Just in case). ;)

The owner actually died a few years back in a car crash in London. At least that's what we heard- my family lives within walking distance of the treehouse. Please be respectful, though, if you go up there. I've seen where people broke windows and vandalized it over the years.
Nice shot, though.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments.
mporter249, Sorry to hear about the owner. I haven't been back to the treehouse since this shot. I agree with you about respect. I believe in leaving things just as I've found them.

i knew and visited the man in this treehouse. it was a wonderful place when he lived in it. i too visited after he died and people had vandalized it, it was very sad. he was an architect and designed and built it himself. it was amazing taking a shower, sleeping atop the trees and overlooking the river. he had chairs on the lower deck where we would sit in silence. he would cook meals for me in the kitchen/dining room. i found your site just now as i was fondly remembering and wondering if i could find any images on the internet. thank you......
