Holiday 2009 Limited Edition Ornaments
These are the limited edition ornaments featuring my images that I have been working on for the holidays; created, printed, assembled and signed by my hand. Small glass-fronted brushed metal frames with spiral hangers highlight two miniature prints of my wintry tree images "The Secret Stairs" and "Cathedral."
These will be available exclusively through ArtStream Studios Gallery in New Hampshire, Lark and Key Gallery in North Carolina and through my web site starting next week, then retired at the end of 2009. These handmade pieces will make unique and thoughtful artisan gifts that will appeal to anyone on your gift list this year. Each piece comes packaged for giving in a mica-flecked handmade paper envelope tied with a moss-gold ribbon.

Small Kingdoms Quartet
© Linda Plaisted
I thought the earth remembered me,
she took me back so tenderly,
arranging her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds.
I slept as never before, a stone on the river bed,
nothing between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated light as moths
among the branches of the perfect trees.
All night I heard the small kingdoms
breathing around me, the insects,
and the birds who do their work in the darkness.
All night I rose and fell, as if in water,
grappling with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better.
