let go, lay to rest

    Alone, I fight these animals.
    Alone, until I get home.

    Coming back, I’m coming back.
She follows me into the woods,
    takes me home.

The talented Sarah reminded me today that we've been meaning to collaborate on "Music Monday"... basically, a weekly reminder to share songs within the Flickr community. I don't know about you, but I'm always on the lookout for new music, and I don't always have time for extensive searches to find it. So if anyone has a few good songs to share, have at it!

This image is grainy and underexposed, but I rather like the imperfection of it. That, and it seems to match up with Of Monsters and Men's Six Weeks so very well. Interestingly enough, the band based this song loosely on a story about an American frontiersman that was mauled by a bear, left for dead, and spent six weeks crawling his way back to civilization.

Beautiful image. And the band Blind Pilot has been on my playlist a great deal lately. Their newest album, We Are The Tide, is pretty catchy.

I love when you mix in music with your posts..usually bands I've never heard of

i don't know how you do it. some of these shots look magical like you processed that light and those tones into a digital image. and then i look at your tags and see it was film. and realize you probably barely touched it if at all. wow.

Love this square of forest! Really nicely done, Danielle. The grainy aspect almost puts it into an animated-looking graphic to me. I like the pillar trees on each edge as well.

trees disappearing upward into fog...lush ferns all around the bottom...yes, this place does certainly look enchanted.

Great image, Danielle. I like that you've composed the shot with a tree on each side; they make it seem like you're an outsider looking into a special place where you may, or may not, be welcome. So, so cool.

Sometimes the forest is underexposed and grainy - and that's beautiful.

Art ought to be painful, but hopefully not bear-mauled painful. You do have a way about forests, with and without a camera.

      Absolutely magical.

And I love imperfections in film photography. Leaks & dust & grain. It's character :)

      Enchanting, mystical forest.......

seriously amazing. the grain only adds to the feeling of depth...and it's barely perceptible on my mac screen. the fog is killer...as is the song. loveee them.

      music monday = success!

This is just so good. Feels primeval. Any lighter, and I think you would have lost the magic. But then again, you have a great eye, so maybe you know what it could have been.

Incredible depth and light. I can feel the heavy air.

I am really drawn to this image, it's just really strong, it may even have to do with the technical imperfections, as this modern age makes it so easy to obtain technical perfection, it's nice to see such a strong image come together the way this one does. Nicely done!

As for music recommendations, I'm currently enamored with an emerging artist Mimi Page (particularly her songs "Gravity", "Fire", and "Jigsaw") it's pretty mellow stuff but has this way of tugging out visual imagery in my head, and is my current companion as I browse my photos in the evenings. Here's a link to her soundcloud stream, she just released her first full cd: soundcloud.com/mimi-page
