I've recently had the pleasure of doing a few pet photography sessions... nothing too involved, mind you. I wasn't sure how last week's session was going to go - the mission was to photograph three indoor cats using only available natural lighting on a cloudy Oregon day. Luckily the apartment I was shooting in had a lovely window seat, pretty throw pillows and some striking red chairs.
Still, it was clear very early on that there would be no posing, even for a second, from any of these felines. Enter the "Greenies" (kitty dental treats) to the rescue. Gizmo in particular was a willing model after the introduction of treats (and even before that). He was quite adept at "the look" and completely unintimidated, as neither the Nikon FM less than 10 inches from his face nor the rather loud clunk of a Hasselblad shutter fazed him one bit.
The other two, however, were a different story - but we'll save those tales for another day (and picture).
Taken with my Hasselblad 500 C/M.
