at the edge of porteau cove

There is a beautiful little campground North of Vancouver, BC called "Porteau Cove". The campsites look out over what is apparently the most southerly fjord in North America - from inside your tent, you can hear the water gently lapping against the shore.

Things there are infused with so much beauty. It's a North kind of beauty, full of quiet and stillness and clarity.

This was taken just after sunset, when the blues had begun to deepen, as the sweeping curtain of dark was falling swiftly across the water. I hunkered down with the Hasselblad and came up with a number of moody shots that will forever take me back to that moment and that night and that trip.

This is just great! I really like the super shallow DOF, it really compliments the composition. I love how you focus on the anchoring foreground rock, the same thing that would have held interest if the focus went all the way through. It really adds to the drama of the shot. Great work!
