I like it, but I'd love to have seen it with a flash directly behind the bouquet set to something rediculously low like 1/1024 power or lower, just to give the faintest rim light. Either that, or I'd try to gel the front light so that you can adjust your WB so that the background goes warmer instead of cooler. Very awesome shot though.

Leviathor, I really appreciate the comment coming from you. I wish I had a boatload more money, because if I did, I think I would hire you to photograph my sister's wedding and fly you down to NJ. I would pay you well and give you some insights into the best areas of photography in and around the state. But I don't think I could do that on the shoestring budget I'm on to keep my hobby alive. I've always really enjoyed your photography, and I believe your shots make up the majority of my favorites, so thank you again.

Chompers - thank you for your suggestions. I knew I could have potentially done more to the photo such as spraying water droplets lightly on the petals... but I was shooting fast. I leaned over the stove, opened the aperture wide in a dimly lit room - lit only by the surrounding windows on this rainy day - and took the shot.

In post, I made the background cooler. I liked the blueish tone in comparison to the pink in the foreground. I also increased saturation on the greenery surrounding the roses to emphasize color. Thanks again for your comments!

beau, ann, Phos and Pixia - thank you! I don't think I'll sell this to Hallmark unless the price is right. (i.e. if I can get a new lens out of it! Heh.)

Amazing exposure and DOF, the one thing that bugs me a bit is the composition. I think a square crop may even work for this, it just does not quite feel "balanced" to me. Don't take this as me saying its a bad picture because it is amazing its just something that you can nit-pick about :)

It's already cropped. It's not a standard size photo out of my camera. I clipped the top and the left to help push it off-center. I'm sorry, but I have to say I prefer it this way. I can understand where you're coming from - a square crop just seems like it would fit, but I don't know that in execution it would really work.

Square-crops aren't always what they're made out to be :) ...however, when used correctly they look spectacular!
