Is life all just random happenings? ... [222.365]

Deep question for you all...

Do you believe in the statement "Everything happens for a reason?"
I was talking to someone the other day, and I said this to him, and he truly believed not everything happens for a reason. But I can not believe that things just happen randomly. While I believe that we can make choices in our life, and choose our path, the things we cannot control, are all there for a purpose.
I know for me personally, I had to come to terms with the fact that I was once in an abusive relationship, but I know I am the way I am today because of that experience. I've often wondered if I could go back and change things, if I would, but I know I wouldn't. I know exactly who I am now, I know the kind of person I want my future husband to be, and I found out what I wanted to do with my life. All of that I might not have realized without going through that tough part of my life.

Sorry for the long story, I suppose it's slightly therapeutic to talk about such things. But I'd love to hear all of your opinions =)
