Karen Seghers, Youth Services Assistant, Manchester District Library

Like so many others diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder, Karen Seghers had difficulty with reading as a child because it was so very hard. Because of this experience and her role as Youth Services Assistant at the Manchester District Library, Karen GEEKS Children’s Literature. She wants to ensure that all children have the opportunity to discover a love for books.

On the job and off, Karen loves reading to children. Many in Manchester eagerly anticipate her weekly story times. Karen admits that watching the facial expressions of children and their reactions to her stories are the best part of her job. According to Karen, some of the best childrens authors are Mo Willems, Gary Paulsen, and James A. Owen.
