After the storm

After the storm

After an incredible deluge in the Coromandel we drove down the 309 Road to check out the waterfall and it didn't disappoint. It was raging and the energy from it was amazing but unfortunately the photo was crap. The sky was a strange pink colour and this was just a quick snap as Seb stepped into the frame. It's kinda an odd shot but there's something about it I quite like.

la panthére noire dort au soleil

la panthére noire dort au soleil

Since moving into our new house our cat has doubled in size. It's seriously disturbing. We never saw ourselves as the owners of a fat cat. We're healthy people despite our best efforts to sabotage ourselves with chocolate and wine, but it seems our cat has really taken to our new place and it shows. There's no kitty crime, or bullying male cats, the birds are too large to catch and the lizards are few and far between so she spends her day lounging in the sun like a queen and I find myself envying her lifestyle.

Maybe it's worth the extra pounds.

A meeting in Mission Bay

A meeting in Mission Bay

I don't get to Mission Bay often simply because it's sort of out of the way from where I live in the city and because normally it's chock full of people and I don't particularly like crowds. Who does? As it happened though I was in Mission Bay two days in a row, one for a wine club...a worthy excuse to drive to Mission Bay, and the second for a meeting with a fabulous new client. It was a gorgeous sunny and slightly chilly day and as luck would have it the park was nearly empty and just asking to be photographed.

on a string

on a string

Remnants of something although I can't remember ever tying anything to the fence but there it is. A reminder of the previous owner of our house. And it's not alone, there are 4 nails with bits of string still clinging to them, waving in the wind and the rain and baking in the sun.

The things you find under your house

The things you find under your house

It's almost been a year since we've been in our new 100 year old house and we've discovered a LOT of things in the process of doing renovations. We kept expecting (and we still do) to find human bones from someone's grandpa buried in the back yard but we weren't really expecting a mummified cat. It was an interesting specimen for sure. One side still had the skin but on the flip side was it's completely intact bone structure. We were highly impressed and somewhat horrified.
