I was taking photos of the sunset and couldn't figure out why the color was coming out so blech on the camera. by Malingering.
It took me a few minutes to realize that it was because I had sunglasses on. So I decided I would just take the photo through my sunglasses, so you can see how it's better that way.

Wow. Great idea. You should sell 'Sundown Glasses' on one of Florida's beaches, preferrably the keys. People will buy them, I'm sure.

Great picture, awesome idea and really funny. Thanks for sharing this picture!

This technique is pretty widely known about. Funny, though. The last few photos from my contacts that I've seen doing this were similar, they just thought of it out of the blue like you did. I like that you got the sunglasses in the shot, too.

Mal. You'd better watch it -- I was just on the Explore page, looking at all of the 'artsy shots', and making the appropriate art patron/Fourth of July verbalizations (oooooooooohhhhh.... ahhhhhhhhhhhhh) when I suddenly spied THIS shot (very very nice) and I thought to myself, "Very, very nice. Ooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh."

But then - I saw YOUR NAME as the artist.

So please -- don't tell me that you've 'gone artsy'. (Doctor, she's GONE ARTSY!)

I mean... I've got more flower photos just here on Flickr than I can eat. So, pleeeeeeeease don't forsake all your global voyeurs out here. We've paid damn good money to view your fine street work. Ok, ok. We HAVEN'T paid you any money (yet), but I'm thinking that I WILL be one of the very first to buy your first coffe table photo book:

The Ridiculous-People Coffe Table Photo Book That Really IS a Coffee Table. With Legs.

I knew you 'when'.

Don't worry, I doubt it will happen again. Unless I get an SLR. But speaking of 4th of July verbalizations, I just found this... an oddball in my photostream... www.laist.com/archives/2007/01/01/happy_new_y ear_la_from_...

Mal,

1. Of, course I was kidding about 'what you CAN and can NOT photograph'. I think that EVERY photo that you capture is somehow fascinating (HOW do you DO that?) -- and I DETEST the Flickr critics who say rude things on blogs, such as: "I like how you had a sun in your shot, but I would have preferred if you had, instead, shot the moon. In Bora Bora. In the snow." So, pleeeeeeease, don't think that I would ever ever ever tell YOU what to do. I wouldn't do that, unless my butt were cold, and I thought that your Uggs could warm it up.

2. Did that 'Laist' web site just STEAL your shot? I'm getting concerned that our Flickr photos are just an all-you-can-eat free stock-library for digital thieves.

I am considering taking photos of Uggs and breast implants through my sunglasses, just so I can end up in Explore more often.

LAist blogs my photos, I think, so that's okay. But I did find some people online who stole my photos, claimed them as their own, and then entered them in a contest. Oh well. At least they didn't win. Ha!

I am very surprised no one said that ugly white car ruins the shot, which is all I can think of when I look at it. I am also waiting for people to suggest to crop here and there and change the iso and get a better camera and take some photography classes and join Greenpeace. I'm just waiting. It will come.

That's pretty sad. I'd kill to get on Explore more than just once, and that gets up?

Even sadder is that someone favorited it.

The ugly white car ruins the shot. Kidding. Actually, it is just part of the street scene and low enough down to not be distracting.

I've noticed that some users get accolades and photos favorited no matter what they upload. I've long since stopped caring.

I thought I saw this in your Scout page yesterday, but not the day before. They come and go in the beginning and eventually settle down.

Weird what shows up in blog searches. Put your flickr id in the search below (maybe add "flickr" as well). I had no idea some of my photos were blogged.

The saddest thing is that of all of my photos, the only one that is #1 (and has remained consistently in explore over time) is a totally stupid photo that I don't even like.
