Ants and Aphids

Prev Next

This is a Christmas Cactus Flower. It is very pretty, but I prefer the industrial workers and thier "cows".

For those who don't know, Ants are little ranchers...they don't eat the flesh of the aphid, but massage the back to stimulate the aphid to produce a necter.

Wow, amazing shot. And so cute how everyone is lined up at the end of the flower.

I love this--I've read about the symbiosis of anys and aphids but I've never seen them in action (so this photo is the next best thing!)

    Plus it's just a good photo ...
