A Mocker For Maureen F.

A Mocker For Maureen F. by makeupanid.
And not just any Northern Mockingbird either-this is a very special Mockingbird.

One he's dedicated to Maureen F.- who says she has never seen one. (which is why she needs to come to Humber Bay with me!)

and two he was a very, very lucky Mockingbird today

It was hanging around the bushes sunning himself in the Sun while I-P-S and I were trying to get closer to a Ruddy Duck that was giving quite close views. Every once in a while I would look back to take some Mockingbird shots because I find them such pretty birds-and he was not in such a thick tangle of bushes-like it will be soon. (That is if we ever get Spring-LOL)

and he would look back at me too

It was being most accomadating and I got several good shots of him. He is a resident in the Park and usually hanging around. Okay, enough Mockingbird shots-lets turn our attention back to the ducks.

Wait what was that? Oh, oh somebody else thought that Mockingbird was attractive!

Predator

But he missed him! Phew! This is him pouting ;D afterwards!

He was pretty far away and the above shot was the best shot I could get-Ian may (well probably does have a better shot) He tried to get closer but that hungry guy would have none of it and took off!

And that's why I say this is one lucky (or fast) Mockingbird!

he sure is a beauty -
yesterday I looked out my window and saw a falcon (or kestrel - too small for a hawk) eyeing my little friends at the bird feeder - yikes !!

Glorious sequence!! That last one of the mocking bird is simply stellar!!
The terminal white band on the tail makes me think Cooper's too, but then the width of the dark bands make me think sharpie. I toss my hands into the air and say, accipiter. Accipiter for sure! :-)

Great shots of the mockingbird. I so much wanted to go to Humber Bay yesterday, as it was such a beautiful day. Unfortunately my NEW Canon 40D is in for repair. At least I can enjoy the shots you got.

I like a story with a happy ending. And GREAT shots you got. I like that last one a lot!

Nature last night showed the biggest bird of prey in the world -- which they said was an eagle, but looked like it had an owl face to me -- making off with a sloth, who had just escaped the Jaguar. Some have no luck.

Great set of mockingbird shots and a nice little story. Its tough being a hawk and the broad white tips to the tail are indicative of a fall coopers.
