I was against him running before. I have second thoughts now. It's ashame it's too late.

I like him better than anyone in the Democratic field right now. But it really is too late for 2008. He let his fundraisers go several months ago.

Besides, I don't think he wants to run again, and I don't blame him.

I'm sure he'd like to be president, and I know he'd be a good president. But he knows what a grind a presidential campaign is, and it wore on him in 2000. Even if he stepped up, I'd worry that he didn't want it badly enough. That's no disrespect to Gore. I just think that running for POTUS is a trial by ordeal that a candidate must viscerally embrace in order to survive and win.

Maybe he'll feel different in 2012. I hope so

Granted, he won in 2000. But at the time, Gore had every conceivable advantage, and his campaign floundered. Maybe he's a wiser guy with savvier advisers now--but I don't think he's cut out for the presidential campaign trail.
