I have a 2002 Civic myself, any chance Honda would do this for me? I'm terrible with cars and I' m bound to mess it up.

@brnagi: yes, the CD player still functions. The only difference is that each press of the CD source selector alternates between the internal CD player and the iPod.

Don't fear the install. I purchased the adapter last fall and hemmed and hawed about whether I wanted to do the install or not. When I finally decided to try it, I discovered it was much easier than I thought it would be.
