The ark is built from multiple individual elements with elaborate carved and polychrome surfaces, predominantly red, green, and gold; four columns with shell capitals flank two tiers of double doors; triangular pediment with shell finial and draped central cartouche, inscribed in Hebrew: "Crown of the Torah".
