Isabella Rose Gigglefoot

Isabella Rose Gigglefoot by maggies farm.
We got Rose a couple of months ago from Monkey's old preschool. She was attacking 3 year olds. Who wouldn't, really, when they keep thrusting those chubby little hands and faces in your personal space? She is much friendlier now, but her child tolerance is about two at a time. She likes the Monkey and the Monkey loves her.

You have a rabbit! Every time we go to the pet store (to look at the hamsters) I pet the rabbits (they have them in open top cages). Sometimes I think I want to get one since someone is against cats and dogs. I was wondering about the cuddly/personality factor, though. So often, rabbits seem like there's not a whole lot going on upstairs, but Rose looks like a sweetie. Does she make for a fun pet?

She looks so soft! Her fur kind of reminds me of my own blue Rex. Do you happen to know what breed she is? Beautiful coloring too.

Liz - she's is pretty sweet, but those teeth are sharp... She's fun, but they do chew on things (furniture, wires...), so I watch her pretty closely when she's out of her cage. She's litter box trained and very clean. She does prefer things quiet and slow.

She's a mini rex, so her fur is extra soft. The guard hairs are the same length as the undercoat, so she's plush! One of the teachers at Sophie's old school got her and a litter mate from a local breeder of show bunnies (that cracks me up!!). I think her color is one they are working on to get officially recognized.

Her sister has no problem with the kids, nor does the other mini rex at the school. I think Rose was just in the wrong classroom. When I was Head of School, that particular teacher didn't notice that her hamster was missing for two days, and the fish bowl is always dirty. Some people shouldn't be left in charge of animals...

Good info on house rabbits is at our site and the House Rabbit Society at www.rabbits.org.

Spaying the Beautiful Isabella Rose Gigglefoot (if she hasn't already been) will lessen the aggression (they're territorial and think of themselves as 'food') and they live about twice as long. Reproductive cancer is an 80% chance by age 5 if not spayed.

She IS a Beautiful Girl. Love her coloring.

She's a lucky girl to have landed in a loving home. : )

Spaying has been in the plans (household expenses took a GIANT hit this year).

They are very territorial. That was one of the first things I noticed. It was fairly easy to get her used to having me in her space - lots of sweet Swiss Chard and clover... And helping her to determine what was her space and what was ours.

And she definitely equates children with something bad. I've taught the Monkey how to watch her for signs of not being happy. And she can handle two quiet kids at a time without much stress now. Anymore than that and she enters a "I'll get you before you get me!" mode.
